Your details

Dear landlord,

The government’s new landlord register

From 15 December 2026, private landlords in England have to register themselves and the homes they let on the government’s new register, through the Register your rental property service on GOV.UK. Homes in the West Midlands must be registered by 14 March 2027.

What you need to do

Start the registration for each home on GOV.UK and name our agency as your letting agent. Pay the government’s fee of £65 a year for each home, on GOV.UK. Make your own declaration, which only you can do.

What we will do

Once you name us, GOV.UK sends us a link for each home and we fill in our part within the 28 days we are given: any licence, the number of tenants and households, the furnishing, the rent and any bills it includes, and the gas, electrical and energy certificates with their dates. We keep it up to date whenever something changes.

Our register fee

Our one-off register fee is £30 for each home, which covers our part of the registration.

A landlord whose home is not registered can be fined up to £7,000, and loses most routes to possession, so please start your registration as soon as your region opens. If you have any questions, reply to this letter.

Yours sincerely,
